Sweet & Spicy Glazed Salmon
This sweet & spicy low carb glazed salmon recipe is sugar free, quick to make, tasty, and fool-proof (I mean come on, it’s salmon). And really easy clean-up.
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 to 2 pounds fresh salmon filet, cut into 6 pieces.
2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce (I bought Huy Fong Foods, Inc. brand)
3 tablespoons coconut aminos
2 teaspoons Tamari or soy sauce
2 tablespoons Allulose
(or 1-2 teaspoons granulated sugar substitute like erythritrol)
DIRECTIONS
Whisk the marinade ingredients all together until the sweetener is dissolved. You may wish to heat it on low in a small saucepan or in the microwave, in a heat-safe dish. Make sure the marinade is cooled to at least room temperature, then set aside about 1/3 of it.
Pour the marinade into a container with a lid or large plastic freezer bag that will fit all the fish plus marinade. Place the fish pieces skin-side-up covered in the marinade, seal it up, and refrigerate 30 minutes to 1 hour, and no more than that.
Remove fish from marinade with tongs, shaking off and discarding excess marinade.
Oven Broiler Directions:
Heat broiler and position oven rack to 5-6″ from broiler heat source.
Place fish skin side-down on a cookie sheet lined with foil or parchment (spray foil with cooking spray or grease with coconut oil if you want).
Broil 6-10 minutes until fish is opaque and the glaze on top is bubbling (a bit of crisping or charring on the edges is good). Remove from oven. The fish should be tender, opaque, yields easily to flaking with minimal pressure from a fork and reaches internal temp of 125 to no more than 145 F.
Grill Directions:
Heat your grill to medium (350-400 F) and brush grates liberally with mild olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil.
Place the marinated salmon fillets on the grill a couple inches apart and cook with the lid down for about 3-6 minutes on each side (time varies upon your filet thickness) until fish is opaque and remove from the heat. The fish is done when it reaches internal temp of 125 to no more than 145 F.
NOTES:
Microwave the reserved glaze ~1 minute (or until granulated sugar substitute is dissolved) and pour over fish, top with sliced green onions, if desired. Goes well with pretty much any green veggie.
This sweet & spicy low carb glazed salmon recipe makes 4-6 servings.
